Patriarchal Pockets
That's my dad's shirt and it came with a breast pocket.
None of my (the ones bought from the women's section) shirts has it.
That's the politics of pocket. Whatever girls possess should be out there in open, in their hands, their hand bags, making them and their belongings not just vulnerable but having their hands, their agencies engaged and occupied.
The denim that I am wearing in this picture has humongous pockets (I bought it from the men's section), I can carry half of my world in it and this ain't no exaggeration per se. My denims like mine their pockets can't carry my phone without 2/3rd of it jutting out of my back pockets. The side ones, oh they carry the used tissues when I can't find a dustbin to throw them. Lately I have come across denims with pseudo pockets, basically no pockets just a patch to give you an impression of pockets. Giving me more reason not to shop from the women's section.
Apart from the size of pockets the comfort level and the fit is another issues that just gets on my nerves. We girls don't like to wear figure hugging tight clothes in this scorching heat and humidity. I prefer easy breazy clothes but I can't find them. Those shreds of cloth won't fit me, whatever size you get me. Even when i figure out where to put my head and where to out my arms they just won't fit.
Thus as of now i I just resort to my dad's old shirts and tshirts and whatever I can get my hands on in the men's section.
