To let go or not to let go

How do you decide when to give up on hope
How do you decide that suffering would exceed the love for each other
When do you call it day
When do you give up on all the efforts to save that person

Can a paralytic arm be the reason
Or a palpitating heart
When lungs are too tired to inhale
Or when one loses her eyesight
Fallen teeth
Or wrinkled face
Grey strands in the comb
Or a balding head

What can be a reason enough to give up on your loved one
How do you decide that there is no living further
Is it when you see her suffer
That you manage to utter those words
'may her sufferings end, may she attain peace'

But do you make peace with that
The thought of your loved one going
Can you get your mind around it
How do you decide that its time to cut the chord
How do you decide its the last leaf to fall
And before the last leaf has fallen how do you decide
'To let go or not to let go!'
