When grandparents were!
Grandparents are just grandparents
even after they have died,
it doesn't seem like, like they have!
Whether you were two
or twenty six,
they seemed the same;
same warmth, same affection
in their arms or they in yours!
You fail to notice the change,
few more wrinkles deep seated on their face,
that toothless smile,
you fail to notice that they are growing old,
spending their days on you,
counting their breaths!
Grandparents are just grandparents
even after they have died,
it doesn't seem like, like they have!
Even when they breathed their last in your arms,
You fail to realize; it doesn't hit you that hard to begin with.
It might be during that sweaty nightmare
that you fail to find her comforting dab,
on that thirsty summer afternoon
when you won't find that glass of buttermilk,
Or may be her picture hanging on the wall,
that you would realize,
Grandparents are grandparents
But now they aren't,
They were!
