'I am going', he said!
It is easy to say that I am leaving,
easier to leave I guess.
You get the upper hand, don't you?
But what's tough is to listen to those words time and again,
having them ringing in your ears
even after you have left.
Trying to recall the first time you uttered these ill omened words,
how did you frame your lips,
were those lines on your forehead strained or straightened?
Did you squint your eyes
or looked straight through me?
Looked straight through my body,
deep into the veins, where the blood was gushing
only at the thought of having you gone
or were you looking at the window
where the last leaf was still struggling with the branch,
just like 'We' were with 'You' and 'I'.
